Challenges Overcome

Clive had Multiple Sclerosis, and treatments for the condition left him in a great amount of debt. Because of this Iron Maiden held a number of charity events and were involved in setting up the Clive Burr Multiple Sclerosis Trust Fund. He was a patron for a charity called Clive Aid, which raises awareness and funds for Multiple Sclerosis and Cancer programmes around the world through the staging of rock events.

Clive’s partner, Mimi also had Multiple Sclerosis. Clive’s MS meant he had to use a wheelchair.

Clive died in his sleep at the age of 56 in 2013 due to complications from his MS. Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson stated “Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence.”
